Pepsi Play for a Billion to return...
« on: February 11, 2004, 12:21:12 AM »
It looks like Pepsi Play for a Billion will return for a second installment in the fall of 2004.

Jayski (a popular NASCAR site) reports that Jeff Gordon will once again drive a "Billion" paint scheme car for the Pepsi 400 race at Daytona in July.  Since Gordon endorses Pepsi, and he drove the Play for a Billion car at last year's Pepsi 400, you can put two and two together and it looks like we will see Play for a Billion again.

Well, I liked PPfaB so I'm glad it's returning. But it would have been cooler for it to have just been a one time thing.

I put two and two together, and came up with this answer:

"Henke once again makes irrelevant comments about game shows by inserting NASCAR commentary into them".

Look, all I am saying that this was reported on Jayski's auto racing site.  We will see later on this year if Jeff Gordon will indeed drive the car at the Pepsi 400 (like he did last year)...and if WB (or another web) airs Play for a Billion 2.

One thing with another Play for a billion would be Pepsi having to quickly get the packaging in place to do it again.  One problem they ran into the last time was that they put the contest on brands that weren't readily available everywhere.  That did put a lot of people at a disadvantage.

They did?  As far as I knew; Pepsi placed promotions on the following brands; which; to my knowledge are all national brands:

Pepsi
Diet Pepsi
Mountain Dew
Diet Mountain Dew
Caffine free Pepsi
Sierra Mist [Do some areas still have lemon-lime Slice instead of this?]

If they put it on some odd-ball packaging; it may have been from your local bottler; 7-up/Dr. Pepper's lesser known brands may be produced through a Pepsi bottler.

To add to what Terry has stated below, in central Iowa; the product, IIRC was not promoted on (Sobe) Mr. Green, nor was it promoted on any of the other products he listed.  However, at the time, we were being served by a bottler, since taken over by PepsiAmericas.

If the show does return, I would hope that it would have a little more depth to it.

We have all the Pepsi brands, but we don't have a WB affiliate here in F/S/BC MI.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

They ran promos on Mr Green (ever heard of that!?), Slice Orange, Lipton Tea (in bottles) and Diet Code Red.

Mr Green was never sold nationally.  (it was also discontinued after the promotion)  see my site Salute to Soda for more background on MG
